What is the North East Workforce Skills Programme?

The North East Workforce Skills Programme is a European Social Fund Project that aims to upskill the workforce within Tyne and Wear and Northumberland. The University of Sunderland is the Lead Partner of a diverse group of Further and Higher Education Training Providers giving business and organisations the opportunity for growth

The Programme Promotes​:

  • Education; giving learners opportunities for progression

  • Enabling growth within the voluntary sector

  • Skills and lifelong learning; offering employers higher level Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

  • Training Needs Analysis;  To support organisations to sustain and grow their offer by identifying skills gaps

All of the courses we can offer will include a training needs analysis meeting to discuss the best training for your staff and your business.

What Funding is Available?

Employers can utilise the ESF funding to address CPD requirements within their business up to a maximum of €200,000 over a three year period if private sector, and with no limit if public sector. Levy paying employers have provided the Match Funding to support the ESF contract, this ensures that the programme can be accessed by all employers.
