The Care People Community Interest Company is a bank of workers on zero hours contracts (paid hours directly worked), who have trained in the parent company Training in Care. Established in 2007 and launched by David Miliband the company provides work for vocationally trained unemployed people in the field of child and adult care who are local to South Tyneside.
The Care People offer a service to our own employees and other business including contracts with: South Tyneside Council, private sector companies, third sector business.
Staff receive two reference checks, and are enhanced CRB checked before they start with us. All The Care People staff are covered by Employers and Public Liability Insurance and their practice is regularly monitored and reviewed, as part of our Quality Assurance, while they’re in our employment. Areas for further personal and professional development are identified and planned for in our professional development programme.
The benefits for the newly trained staff of the community interest company are; the ability to have control over the hours they work and therefore to their own care commitments, the ability to supplement other part time work or benefits, and the acquisition of skills which would make them stronger candidates at interview for full time employment.

To date we can evidence over 70 full time jobs acquired through our company, we presently employ 87 staff.
For those who are undertaking training with the Training In Care academy, The Care People provides on-site creche facilities, staffed by members of our expert team.
