We were delighted to host South Shields MP, Emma Lewell, at our head office and training centre last week [Friday 25 Apr].
As well as being our local MP, Emma also holds a master’s degree in social work and visited Angela and the Training in Care team to find out more about the business.
The visit saw he meet the team, receive a tour of our offices and training rooms and receive a demonstration of our innovative software solutions.
Angela also spoke to Emma about her recent involvement in advising the UK Government on new legislation to help overhaul the nation’s adult care sector.
Launched by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) in partnership with Skills for Care, the Care Workforce Pathway aims to outline the knowledge, skills, values, and behaviours essential for various roles within adult social care.
Originally introduced in January 2024 with four care role categories, the pathway was expanded in April 2025 to include eight new roles. This included ‘new to care’, ‘care or support workers’, ‘enhanced care workers’, ‘personal assistants’, ‘supervisors or leaders’, ‘practice leaders’, ‘deputy managers’ and ‘registered managers’.
Dr Brown said: “It was fantastic to be joined by Emma Lewell MP at our head office and to show her around the facility.
“The team loved being able to showcase what they do, the incredible impact their work has on the sector and to talk about our ambitions for the future.
“The UK is in the midst of a crippling social care crisis however our pioneering training solutions have demonstrated how, by thinking outside of the box and focusing on giving people the skills and confidence required to enter the workforce, we can break down the barriers preventing people from entering the workforce and encourage more people to explore a career in care.
“The visit meant a lot to both myself and the team and we are incredibly grateful for her support.”
Emma Lewell MP, the member of parliament for South Shields, where Training in Care is headquartered, holds a master’s degree in social work and visited Angela and the Training in Care team on Friday 25th April to find out more about the business.
Speaking after the visit, she said: “It was fantastic to meet Angela and the Training in Care team. For too long social care has faced skills shortages, Training in Care’s innovative approach to delivering training by those who know the sector first hand is a vital part of helping to fill this gap.”
